Audio skips when unplugged but not when plugged in

#1 Post by atechnica » Wed Jul 09, 2008 12:35 am

no matter what power setting it's on, I have the latest audio driver from lenovo's website. This is windows XP that didn't come with the computer, it was originally a SUSE linux one.

What should I do?

I'm guessing that the power consevation settings for your computer are set up to lower the CPU speed, or the performance of some other system, and as a result the computer isn't able to keep up with the audio when unplugged--on power conservation mode.

Set up a new custom power plan with zero conservation and full performance for the battery mode, and see if that cures it. if it does, then see what you can cut back on without losing the audio.

The odd thing is that changing power settings doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'm not sure if it's the windows power management driver or the audio driver.
