Power adapter alternate plugs
Power adapter alternate plugs
I'm increasingly finding myself using my laptop on desks and surfaces that have a fully blocked back and sides. This usually means that when I use my laptop hooked up, the adapter plug (the one that plugs to the laptop, to be more specific) is bent to a U shape. I'm worried that continued and prolonged use is going to screw the circuitry sooner or later, which brings me to the question: is there a first-party (preferred) or third-party product that has an L-shaped adapter plug?
A universal supply with plug in tips would probably work for you. Here's an example.
Nice find. However, it's the TIPS on that product you link me to that would be more practical for me, as opposed to the entire adapter. Would anyone be aware if such a product is sold? Here is the type of product I'm looking for, only for power instead of USB.
And back to that adapter, as long as I match the voltages/currents, will it not blow my laptop up? (x61s -- which is why I'm here. My apologies for not stating sooner)

I've never seen a product which is just a passive "L" connector for power. My wife has a 70W Targus power adapter for her X61s, and it terminates in an "L' which sticks out much less than the Lenovo adapter.
Is this the product your wife uses? And given that you mention this product, I take it that she has yet to see any trouble arising from using it, even though the Lenovo adapter says 65W?bananaman wrote:I've never seen a product which is just a passive "L" connector for power. Yup Andrew is right, 70W is more than 65W, so no problem.
To be exact, my wife uses the Targus Mobile 70 Universal Auto/Air Adapter APM10US, because she is doin a lot o'flyin these days.
I've always found that a universal power adapter is a good buy. They have a much longer useful life for you than a dedicated adapter, because you can get tips for new laptops and different devices. I have one which is over seven years old. It is more porky than current models, but so what I have it under my sofa for X61 power there!
