Can I add WWAN to X61s?

#1 Post by jpalinkas » Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:02 am

I just purchased a X61s and did not get the WWAN module.

How can I upgrade to add this capability?

One can add WWAN if the motherboard has a socket installed in the second position, where the WWAN card would mount. The only way to be certain is to remove the keyboard, then the palm rest, and look at the motherboard.

If the socket is present, then you need to add the WWAN antenna(s) -- one if for GSM/HSDPA, two if for EV-DO -- to the LCD enclosure, which can be done IF you are willing and able to disassemble the LCD panel enclosure. The Hardware Maintenance Manual will guide you:
