Hi all,
I have searched but coulnt find all the info I need.
I plan to buy one of these...
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... D3200BEKT)
Firstly, will it fit? I have a t60 (2007 fgv)
I plan to partition it with 100gb for XP, and 200 for vista. XP is from the recovery partition on the old disk and vista from a disk, how can I clone the recovey partition?
Please dont flame me, I dont have time to fully research this and would apprieciate links to info if it has already been posted.
Thanks in advance,
Paul.

Paul,
Your T60 originally came with Win XP, correct (Is your type/model actually 2007 FVG? I couldn't find an FGV.)? The easiest way to clone the recovery partition is to use disk imaging software, such as Acronis True Image, Symantec Ghost, etc. Have you burned recovery disks? You could also put in the new drive and boot from the recovery disks, but that won't preserve the current state of your C drive. In any case, make sure you do burn the disks before swapping the drives, if you haven't.
From reading threads here, I have the impression that you can then install Vista over the top of XP (dual boot) and can set all partition parameters. You'll need to search for more specifics. If you "dont have time to fully research this", you may be kicking yourself later!

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Just for future reference for anyone esle thinking of doing this...
The drive fits, but i would advise anyone who was swapping a notebook drive for the first time that they attach a sticky label to the rear of the drive to allow for easier removal, like the original lenovo-fujitsu one has.
Acronis Home 11 took care of the cloning, that included the recovery partition too. I used an external USB hard disk to store the clone image.
As for speed, it seems a little faster especially in boot up, but it was a recent installation before cloning - the extra sapce is very welcome.
