New Help Center 2.00h doesn't work?? Solved
I've tried to install the **new** 2.00h help center that is suppose to have updated links. It appears to install okay, but when I launch it, it fails after attempting to open a file at; C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION\Application%20Data\Lenovo\ALRN\index.html. It feels like someone at Lenovo isn't testing their code anymore. Anyone been able to get this program to run?

Can you please check and confirm that you actually have the actual Help Center for Windows 2.00h loaded? I kind of think it would take some special talent to mess up the installation of this program. Perhaps I am far more talented than I think? Because I can't get it to work, all I see is this, >Click here for picture< It's great that you have it working, that means I should be able to get it working as well. I just re-downloaded it from the above link, we ran it it and chose all the default options, it still will not launch for me.bill bolton wrote:Possibly because it works fine.... as it does for me on both Vista x86 and Vista x64.DAH wrote:no one willing to confirm that it doesn't work?

I wouldn't have bothered posting if I didn't have it loaded and working!DAH wrote:Can you please check and confirm that you actually have the actual Help Center for Windows 2.00h loaded
Okay so anyone willing to help me figure out why I can't get it to install, no matter what I try?
I have un-installed it and rebooted, and then installed it rebooted again and it fails. I've un-installed it rebooted, run system update, let it install it rebooted, and it fails. I've tried opening it with Admin privileges and it fails. I'm out of ideas....

On a clean install of Windows Vista x64 the folder C:\Documents and Settings does not appear to have permissions for a *normal* user to access it. This prevents the install program from creating the folder structure it needs.
So what I did is create the folder structure Help Center is looking for, and moved and renamed one file. I created this structure, C:\Documents and Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION\Application Data\Lenovo\ALRN and then copied index_t.html from C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkVantage\ALRN to this folder and renamed it index.html now Help Center works ~
So if you have a x64 bit Windows Vista install and would like a working Help Center you might try this.
If you want to try this you need to take ownership of the C:\Documents and Settings folder so that you can create the sub folders.
