If you have the fingerprint software and the password manager (Client Security Solution) installed then you can use the fingerprint reader to login to websites and several applications. For some applications it doesn't work correctly. At least when i tried it using CSS 8.0 it didn't work for some applications.
It did work good for websites, but for some reason opening new tabs in Internet Explorer became really slow because of the required add-on in IE. The add-on is required for the fingerprint authentication on websites to work. Also i found the password manager to use a lot of memory.
Those issues might be fixed now since i don't use it anymore so don't know, but at least what you are asking is possible and you could try it yourself to see if you find it to work good or not.

I do belive that i read it's working for firefox as well, but not sure since i do not use the fingerprint login on websites anymore.

With eBay, the softwon't check the box to keep you logged on all day.
