R40 CPU Upgrade?

Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on an R40? Currently have Pentium m 1.3 GHz. Upgraded the RAM from 256 to 512, and that was helped. Put in a 5400 40 GB HD too and that also improved performance. Running Win XP Pro.

Hi rxp, I wouldn't want to say yeah or nay but you can check the MB in the man. and look at the upgrade's . As a GUESS , i'd imagine you can, mine has 1.8 P4 M . on the other hand, they do some crazy stuff some time . Either way to be safe get in the Man. and verify it your self, for your own peace of mind .
You might want to also check your set-up and eye ball what speed your actually running at in a given situation, ( i-e, mine run's at about 1.1 to 1.3 most of the time, under light load ) . You may also be border line on your RAM with XP-PRO ??
Some of the guy's will prob. give you a YES or NO but I'm not able to at this time.

rxp, kinda felt bad about being so vague and looked at my Man.

It' show's Intel. pent. M, CPU's as;
1.3, 1.4, 1.5

Mobile P-4 , as;
1.8 , upto 2.4

So that look's like 1.5 GB is as high as you can go. I doubt that would be a worthwhile upgrade ( only about 11% ) .

Thanks for the info Jimmy. Yes, changing from Pentium 1.3 M to 1.5 is not worth it. Better to upgrade the RAM to 1 GB. Looking to do some video editing so that is why I was interested in possible upgrade paths.

You might consider installing an even faster hard drive, such as on of the the Hitachi 7200 RPM drives. I've read a white paper that suggested that 7200 RPM laptop drives were approximately 33% faster than 5400 RPM laptop drives.
