DVD writer not working

Hi Guys,
I have a Lenovo 3000 C100. Recently the DVD drive has stopped wriring to DVDs. It read them fine as well as read and writes CDs. I use Nero 7.10 for burning and after i start it aborts. I have re installed nero. I expect that the writed is dead, do all laptop writers fit this machine?
