Welcome to thinkpads.com!

The FAQ: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=1689

has a link (item #8 ) to where you can download a copy of the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your system. For the R31, it's here:

handy hint, when it comes time to get the bit of plastic over the hinge & lcd cable a set of jeweller screwdrivers and the 2mm flatblade screwdriver does the trick perfectly to prise it up. Also the top clips to the bottom and i've found it best to just the same kind of small screwdriver to gently coerce the two halves apart. oh and look for tiny screws everywhere. Theres a couple of doosies that can catch you out if your not careful.
