Can't read CDs...any ideas?

#1 Post by cal4ever » Wed Dec 22, 2004 2:49 am

My roommate has a T42 and it stopped reading CDs completely--any type of CDs whether it be audio, burned audio, or data. Nothing seems to be work. The odd thing is that it can read DVDs. We tried using both iTunes and Windows Media Player to see if it's a software issue. It doesn't seem to be the case--then again, it can be.

Any suggestions would be great.

Happy Holidays!

I had the opposite problem - all CDs were OK, but no DVDs. I had 2 T42s on hand and swapping the drive fixed the problem. Called IBM support and they fed-exed a new optcial drive to me the next day, which solved the problem.

Same thing here - no DVDs but CDs. Call support and let them exchange the drive.
It's a trick. Get an axe.
