Help: X61T Screen

So I'm seriously considering getting a X61T or just the X61. My main reason for going with the X61T is:

1. Screen is supposedly better than the regular X61/X61s.

2. It seems like a tablet make more sense as laptop due to the extra features (in trade for extra weight). I never tried one and thought it would be interresting.

Can anyone tell me more about the supposedly better screens on the tablet laptop. Lenovo isn't doing a very good job of touting features.

This would help me decide between X61, X61T or X200.

The tablets use LCDs with in-plane switching technology, which allows greater visibility from extreme angles and provides better color reproduction. My X61 Tablet with the SXGA+ SuperView screen is very nice; viewing angles are good, colors are good, and it's a high-resolution screen. My only complaint is that it's not bright enough to use outdoors in direct sunlight.

As for tablet features, they're a lot of fun.

If you're looking for the best LCD around, go for X61T.

You'll be glad you did.

When you say high resolution, does it mean it actually has a higher resolution that I can set i.e. with SXGA+ I can set my resolution to 1400x1050 on a 12" screen?

Which one is the fancy IPS screen of the two on Lenovo site:

12.1" SuperView WVA SXGA+ TFT, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna

12.1" MultiView + MultiTouch WVA XGA TFT [add $63.75]

I'm assuming the second one, but it doesn't have SXGA+, but costs more??? Confused....

To further add to the confusion, when changing process from 1.6GHz (L7500) to 1.8GHz (L7700), it get's more expensive to upgrade and the SXGA+ is no longer available:

12.1" WVA XGA TFT, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna

12.1" MultiView + MultiTouch WVA XGA TFT, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna [add $95.62] [Lenovo recommended]

ALL of these LCDs are IPS (FlexView), the resolutions and some other tablet-related features are different, but the base is the same.

So what are the difference? I found all sort of wierdness when changing the processor for the LCD...

Yes, for some reason SXGA+ LCD is not offered with a stronger CPU...

Take the SXGA+ LCD and slower CPU, you won't regret it. Lenovo is about to phase out these LCDs any day now...

SXGA+ means 1400 x 1050, and that is indeed on a 12" screen. LCDs are finicky about resolutions and will generally be a little fuzzy and unclear if they're not set to their native resolution. So if you're not up to reading fairly small text, go for the regular XGA (1024 x 768) screen.

The reason the second one costs more is because it is a touch screen--you can use either the tablet pen or your finger as tablet input. On the SXGA+ screen, only the tablet pen works. That functionality costs you.

Lenovo will not let you configure the 1.8GHz CPU with the SXGA+ screen. This is why I bought a 1.6GHz processor. I do not miss the extra 200MHz, but I suspect I'd miss all these great pixels I've got if I had bought the touch screen.

Ohh... I did not know you could get that high resolution on a screen. That must be the highest DPI!

1. So what is multi-touch?

2. Why doesn't the higher screen resolution have it?

3. Can you get multi-touch with the higher screen resolution?

4. Can you get fingerprint reader on the tablet? I do not see this.

It is really odd, why they do not let you truly configure the systems. Lenovo really needs to shape up and clearly communicate features to potential customers. Ever since Lenovo has taken over Thinkpad line, the site has been a complete mess.
