Lenovo Download Section Dead

#1 Post by NorrisCell » Sun Jul 20, 2008 12:29 am

Not cool at all. I have a new TP on its way to me and Lenovo's support section brings up an error when you try and access it. How long has it been down? Has anyone tried downloading software in the past few days?

Lenovo usually performs site maintenance on the weekends. Try again Monday.

You would think that one of the biggest computer services companies in the world could do upgrades/maintenance with minimal affect on their customers - millions of people - but no.

Downtime once in a couple of years, maybe. Routinely, unacceptable! Certianly, this is no way to showcase IBM's capabilities.

Unfortunately, it is just a part of having such a large business. I use Chase bank, and their site is always down on Sunday mornings, for maintenance. Granted, it is posted that they are always performing maintenance on Sundays.

Maybe Lenovo should post a warning that they will be down at set times, and not as randomly over the weekends as it is now.

It's down, yet again, really lame.

It's the weekend. They do maintenance on the weekend. Get used to it.

It's less frustrating if you just assume that parts (and sometimes all) of the site will be undergoing maintenance on the weekend and plan accordingly.

The download site and thinkvantage go down for me very frequently as well. They really should not make it a habit.

Someone enlighten me please, while I was taking computer course in school I learned you could update part of the website without disturbing the existing packages I also recall something about layers for e.g the outer layer for downloaders and the inner for upgraders, I think perhaps the people in-charge should hire better networking employees or upgrade to better system servers.

It was working in time for the delivery of my new machine, so I was happy. Site maintenence is important, but a tip-off would've been nice for such an important section.
