T30 150 vs. 200nit LCD's - Why?

#1 Post by Harryc » Sun Jul 20, 2008 7:24 pm

I see in the T30 LCD FRU Parts List that there are 150 and 200nit LCD's listed. Ok, I understand that 200 nit LCD's would be brighter, but I can't figure out why IBM offered both 150 and 200 nit LCD's as options. I mean, when T30's were order-able as new, there was actually a choice on the order screen for a brighter LCD? What am I missing? Yo Troels :)

200NIT LCD draws more power. The user would choose 150NIT for longer battery run time.

LCD panel replacement part

#4 Post by ares_tz » Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:03 pm

Well right I asked for a replacement lcd panel from Lenovo
and third party (Samsung, LG Philips)

Lenovo offered me a replacement lcd panel which was about
the cost of a new laptop!

Whereas Samsung/LG Philips panels priced about 140euros..

I had difficulty to find the FRU no of the lcd panel as well as
the correct brightness type...Right there are (2) choices for
powerful brightness or energy saving...

In my case, the inverter card which costs just 6euros would do
just fine for T30..

Just find any panel that will fit. T30 uses a different LCD connector making the panel hard to find.
