Got a new laptop. Link to pictures

But it's not a thinkpad

Up until about a month ago, I was planning on buying a thinkpad. I had one ordered through the school ... its price was $1800.

Monetary issues led me to drop the school's thinkpad. I started pricing out T60s, but I couldn't get what I wanted for less than $1000 - 14.1''WS and Nvidia card.

So I decided to try Dell again. My Inspiron 1520 laptop (15.4'' WS with Nvidia 8600) has been good to me for almost a year now and I figured that a 1420 (14.1'' WS) would be a good laptop for bringing to class.

I went to dell's outlet and got a laptop 1.5 C2D, 2GB Memory, Nvidia 8400M GS and 160gb HDD for $629 SHIPPED. It was used of course - for something that is going to get abused by going to class, I don't see a reason for new.

Well, when I got it, I got this: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v87/m ... C00281.jpg a cracked case. A call to Dell and they issued me a replacement.

The replacement was the same except it had a 1.83 core 2 and it was brand new. Not bad, I pay for used and I get new!

I haven't really done much with it because it's waiting for class to start, but using Vista Ultimate has completely changed my opinion of Vista ... I like vista.

Maybe after college I'll pick up another thinkpad.
