hdd led still on - no response from vista..?

hdd led still on - no response from vista..?

hello,
since I bought new hdd - 320Gb seagate, sometimes I have, that hdd led is still on, not blikning, but still on, mouse is working, but I can't do anything. Only push and hold power button to restart computer can help.
anybody know what can be reason?
I am using xp and vista , but now I am working most time on vista, so I am not sure is it the same on xp..

Remove the HDD from the slot, be sure you have the HDD correctly fitted in the caddy and firmly connect the drive in the motherboard connector.

I will try, but it is sata drive, sa the conection looks good.
Is it possible that it is because that drive is working in IDE(?) mode - not ahci?
