Xp pro bootup issues

#1 Post by thinkxplx » Thu Jul 24, 2008 9:42 pm

While trouble shooting wireless connection, I plugged the cable from router into my T30 and then booted it. XP pro displays a blue screen with a message that there was a problem and that windows has been shut down. The system again attempts to reboot. This goes on and on

when I try rebooting in safe mode it stops at at point where its loading driver agp440. and displays the blue screen with the error message.

What happened? How do I fix this? I have the recovery disks, but my cd rom does not work. Help!!! I need to get my T30 up and running.

TIA

This sounded familiar, and of course agp440.sys is a video driver.

Sure enough there were ton of Google hits when searching on the most unique term in your problem description, that file name.

Check out:
"Problems when Windows XP tries to load the Agp440.sys service"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324764

"XP Home Hangs at AGP440.sys"

"agp440.sys and dead XP system"
http://marc-bourassa.com/2005/04/24/agp ... xp-system/

You might even go to the last first, since it considers the advice at the previous sites and why they often don't work.
