Attention with Power Manager for Windows 2000, XP v 1.40
Hi,
I have T60P window SP3. Yesterday I updated my Power Manager to version 1.40. The first reboot was OK.
But after that in the Event Viewer I got Event ID 4354 Event System 'The COM+ Event System failed to fire the Log off method on subscription ......
Also when I would shut off the computer during "Logging off' and "Window is Shutting Off" the LCD would go dim.
After spending many hours I found out that the problem was with the new Power Manager. I went back to version 1.30b and everything is OK.
I don't know why they don't check these upgrades before posting them.

That's why I just keep a link to the driver page for my notebook and periodically check myself what new updates are there and if I really need those.
I'd never run ThinkVantage system update and let it download and install all the latest things automatically.
The idea of taking the software update burden off the user is basically good. If it only worked out.

I am having the same event warning after installing v1.40 even though it does not appear to be causing any issues. With regards to the "dim" effects that you are now seeing, this is part of the new driver/software. Open up Power Manager, go to Global Power Settings tab. Under Power Management Options, see new entry for Enable Dynamic Brightness Control. Click on Advanced and the dialog box information will explain what you are seeing.
Good luck.
Good luck.
