No Bluetooth available?

#1 Post by FRiC » Tue Jul 29, 2008 11:51 pm

Anyone know why none of the new models on the Lenovo site have Bluetooth as an option?

Options seem to come and go depending on availability.

I've been playing with T61 configurations for the last month. I've seen 6-cell batteries available, disappear, and now reappear. 250GB 5400 HDD's weren't there for a while and now are. Bluetooth was there for quite a bit and now has disappeared.

I wonder if you can get it added if you call in your order?

I ordered a new T61 on July 21 with Bluetooth. Since that time, Bluetooth does not seem to be an option for the T61. I also noticed that some of the new product lines (SL series, T400, T500 are offering the new wireless USB. So perhaps they are thinking that wireless USB should replace BT sooner rather than later?
600e (needs a replacement HD)
T20 (2647-44U, needs a win98 install disk to rebuild vmm32.vxd)
T23 (2647-HNU, pulsing fan, won't boot)
T41p (2373-GEU, works perfectly)
T61 (7658-CTO, works perfectly)

No.

Sales rep I talked to said that Bluetooth was on backorder right now and thus was not a configurable option.

If you google, it looks like you can buy the BT card as a FRU and install yourself, but it's probably not for the faint hearted.

My guess? They're busy building new systems to fill the distribution channels and allocating bluetooth modules to those systems first.
