Anyone else here getting the 500gb drives in their T61?

#1 Post by muffd » Sun Aug 03, 2008 10:53 am

I'm wondering because I want one but can't seem to find it anywhere. Fry's by my house has some HD-PS500U2 500GB MiniStation Turbo made by Buffalo. It's a laptop hard drive but I am trying to figure out if this is a 9.5mm one and will fit in my laptop.

BTw, the drive is $169.99. I don't wanna buy it though unless I know this drive will fit.

Thanks

I'm fairly sure it houses an Hitachi 5K500, three-disk 2.5-in. drive configuration (with 12.5-millimeter z-height).

You don't think it would have the Samsung drive in there?

What a bummer! Thanks for the info though. I was searching all over for this but couldn't find what I was looking for. I guess I won't be getting this drive after all.

The other day I saw a couple of sellers on ebay selling the Samsung 500gb drive for ~ $220 or so. I'll bite once they are available at Fry's for $100 .
