IDE controller in error state

#1 Post by hubs702 » Sun Aug 03, 2008 11:49 am

hello,

my T30 (P4, 2 GHz, 40 Gb HD, 256 Mb RAM) suffered a hard-disk failure one week ago. If formatted it and re-installed Win XP Pro. Then I went to Microsoft and Lenovo websites and downloaded every "pack" and every updated driver available.

Now, problems are :
1 - XP takes *much* longer than before to load
2 - I do not have access to "stand-by" when I want to shut the computer down.
3 - I have to press the power button to swich it off (when prompted "you can now shut your computer down")

Apart from that, it works (but I'm only using teh computer for Office and Internet, + World Community Grid and AVG anti-virus in the background)

I had a look on configuration panel (I'm not sure of the words : I'm french, and i use an french version of XP...) and I have "other pheripherals" with a big yellow question mark : 2 IDE controller. Every time I resume the system, it tries to install it, but it fails.
details are : IDE controller ROOT\*PNP0680\PNPBIOS_15 and ...\PNPBIOS_16.

I have no idea, no clue on what to do. Wich driver could do the job ?

thanks in advance

Try installing the Intel Chipset drivers.

already done ! withoutout success. But, I just realized that the program was to be run under DOS, with a command line with so many options...
I dig it further, and I keep you informed !

see you later

I had some hope, as the files extracted from infinst_enu.exe are not stored in C:\DRIVERS\WIN, like the others obtained from www-307.ibm.com (there are copied to c:\windows\inf)

But the "update the driver" from that path failed (again)

bad luck.

any other trick, anyone ?
