System: T42p, XP, 2gb ram, 1.7ghz, etc.
I've been trying to install a couple of USB mice, one wireless and one not, and the system refuses to install the correct drivers for the mouse. One is a Logitech wireless and the other is a Microsoft(!) optical mouse. I read on the Microsoft website that all Logitech mice use the system-supplied Windows drivers, but the system claims it cannot find the correct drivers to install the mouse. Same deal with the Microsoft mouse, except that it knows that it is a "Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical," but still says on Device Manager that the drivers are not installed. I was even able to find the driver by that same name by going through the "Have Disk" prompts, but even then, it refused to install the drivers.
I just updated the BIOS, and to SP3, as a result of trying to troubleshoot the problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to wha the problem is?
