T43 Speedstep Question

#1 Post by fiyota » Tue Aug 05, 2008 2:23 am

I have a T43 with the 1.7ghz Pentium M, when on battery power it runs between 300mhz to 700mhz in Battery optimized mode, when freshly booted on wall power it runs at the ful 1.7ghz.

When I switch between the power modes it usually switches from the lower power 300-700mhz back to the full 1.7ghz just fine... but sometimes when switching from battery to plugged in it doesn't change from the slow speed to full speed.

Is this a bios issue, a hardware issue or a software issue?! anybody else have this problem and have worked around it.

What is your setting for CPU performance in power management while plugged in?

In the bios, plugged in is set to Highest, which matches with the power profile while plugged in.

Is there a more accurate program I can try to check the cpu speed rather than using the My Computer -> Properties method?

So I installed an application that monitors the real time speed of the cpu and it is changing properly... I guess the My Computer - > Properties window takes a while to refresh.

All is well with my thinkpad!
