Mint, Lemon, and other Fruits

#1 Post by denisky » Tue Aug 05, 2008 11:22 am

Could anyone explain to me the meaning of "mint condition", "lemon condition", and other fruity conditions? :? I don't know those terms, because in Indonesia, we use percentage (i.e: 70%, 80%, 99%) to value the condition of used goods.

A lemon condition? Well you can call something a "lemon", which means it's badly broken in some way.

As for "Mint condition", see here:

Thanks aaa for the link. I did a search using Google, but it showed up a band named "Mint Condition" and other music related results instead.

Other than lemon, is there any fruity terms to use? I'm sorry for my bad english.

Plum: highly desirable; something to be envious of
Cherry: nicely appointed; usually used when describing the results of an admired restoration project
Lemon: naturally defective; generally applied to an item that has broken so many times that no amount of fixing will make it usable
Peach: attractive

If you want to stay on friendly terms with a colleague, it might be a good idea not to call him fruity.
