LCD qustions about T40 line

#1 Post by postdiction » Tue Aug 05, 2008 4:15 pm

hi,
I recently purchased my first thinkpad, a t23 that I love. The only problem with it is that its cpu is too slow and the lcd is only XGA, I find it annoying.

For me the perfect compromise between screen size and portability is a 14 inch screen. However, I would like to see as many pixels jammed in that 14 inch screen as possible.

So i was wondering what is the highest resolution 14 inch lcd one would find a t4X/t4Xp laptop? Would it be 1400x1050? Is there a difference in screen resolution between t40/41/42?

Would I get more pixels in a 14 inch t6x? I don't want wide screen however.

Thanks

I'm not sure if resolutions were available exceeding SXGA+ (have to check the TAWbook), but the 1400x1050 T4x machines are a real pleasure to use. The LCD assembly is interchangeable among the three basic models; I'm not familiar with the "P" models.

As you will see in the tawbook (official title: "Personal Systems Reference, IBM ThinkPad Notebooks A, T, X, and G Series, 2000 to 2005 - withdrawn , May 2005 - Version 291") which includes specifications on/up to T41 and in the ltwbook (official title: "Personal Systems Reference Lenovo ThinkPad Notebooks 2005 to present - withdrawn - July 2008 - Version 342") .. includes more T4x's; both T41/p's, T42/p's, and T43/p and T60's, all 14.1" T4x(p)'s came with either XGA or SXGA+ resolution. A few very advanced users have managed to put UXGA LCD's on 14.1" T4x's...

As to 14.1" T60(/p)'s (with 4:3 LCD's), they likewise only came with up to SXGA+ resolution LCD's - see the ltwbook as well.
