No 30" monitor support
According to the tabook specs, none of the new T/W models can support external DVI at more than 2048x1536, even via the DisplayPort-DVI adapter. I find this very disappointing, and particularly pathetic for the "workstation class" W500.
I am pretty sure that the W series will support WQXGA through the dock (if not directly). Even current T61/p models do this easily and without issues.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU
Rules of the road

Well the tabook doesn't say anything about external resolution for the older T models, but for the T400/500 it says "DVI pass-through support to optional Advanced Mini Dock or Advanced Dock; Maximum external resolution: 2048x1536@75Hz"
W500 says "digital monitor support via DisplayPort (supports single-link DVI-D via cable 45J7915); Maximum external resolution: 2048x1536@75Hz"
Sounds pretty definite.

as was said, even the OLD thinkpads doesn't mention WQXGA resolutions but it supported it just fine. Some of the T4x said they supported 1284 x 1024 resolution via the dock yet they went as high as 1600 x 1200.
My point is just don't trust that information as NONE of the currect machines state they support WQXGA but they do.

Dude,
you know it is 2048x1536@75Hz
You will be using 60hz
so the resolution will be higher

Not that simple. You need dual-link DVI for WXQGA. They tell us explicitly we can only get single-link out of the DisplayPort. The question is on the dock pass-through.
Even if they support dual-link passthrough,
WXQGA @ 60hz is still higher bandwidth than the stated limit.
We'll have to wait and see. I remember on the T41 where getting 1920x1200 out of the DVI was not officially supported, but you could do it by using a modded ATI driver.

The specs for the ATI chip are encouraging: http://ati.amd.com/products/mobilityrad ... pecs.html". Would not be surprised if a modified ATI driver is needed to enable it.

This configuration works perfectly. The advanced dock has dual link dvi out.

Is that with integrated (X4500HD) graphics, or discrete (ATI Mobility Radeon 3650)?rgrossha wrote:30" Monitor / T500 Advanced Dock / 2560 x 1600

On switchable graphics machines - DVI only works with discrete graphics enabled (so says Lenovo - I haven' t tried it)KeyserSoze wrote:Is that with integrated (X4500HD) graphics, or discrete (ATI Mobility Radeon 3650)?rgrossha wrote:30" Monitor / T500 Advanced Dock / 2560 x 1600

Discrete. I do not believe (and why would I want to?) integrated graphics will work.KeyserSoze wrote:Is that with integrated (X4500HD) graphics, or discrete (ATI Mobility Radeon 3650)?rgrossha wrote:30" Monitor / T500 Advanced Dock / 2560 x 1600
