T20 black screen crashes

#1 Post by t20varhors » Tue Aug 05, 2008 6:08 pm

My T20 suddenly "died", black screen, 1 diode shining /that most right/. After a certain time, it can be started again, than is working cca 8min and than dies again. When started again immediately after this, it does not start or does the same after a short time. No beeping on start. Fan assembly looks OK, fan is shortly working on start. This is with W2K, but Linux live CD is the same. According to MobileMeter CPU temp is 39oC, HDD 41oC. Does not matter if on battery or only AC. Please any suggestion? THX a lot.

Welcome to the forum!

It seems that your ThinkPad has succumbed to the infamous BOD (Blink Of Death) syndrome, do a little search on this topic here on the forum. You're likely going to need a new motherboard.

Good luck.
