T60P successful on Leopard, but some Q's...

#1 Post by robh » Thu Aug 07, 2008 3:11 pm

Specs: T60P 2007-83u (core duo 2.17GHz, 2GB ram, FireGL 5200)

I have two issues that I'm finding trouble living with.

- I can deal with the mouse tearing, though I'd appreciate a fix if anyone knows of one
- I can deal with the fact suspend/resume doesn't work

BUT there are some issues that should be fixable:

- I seriously miss my middle button when using the trackpoint. Have all us thinkpad users really not come up with a solution? There's no 3rd party software to fix it?

- If my laptop is plugged in when I boot, I cannot get past the grey apple-logo screen. The spinny circle does not appear and the hard drive doesn't load (I can post the -v message if anyone thinks they can fix it)

- I have a FireGL 5200 and the graphics effects all work (core image and quartz extreme), yet the mouse cursor is not anti-aliased and there is no drop shadow as there should be.

- I guess while I'm at it I'll also ask if anyone knows of any keyboard re-mapping software that can recognize the special thinkpad buttons (e.g., the webpage back and forward ones above the arrow keys)

Thanks for your time

Update:

I've fiddled with my .kext files, and have a combination of the graphics ones which have QE/Core grapics both enabled, the cursor is anti-aliased, and I have ZERO TEARING.

I had to get my own EDID through a program in windows, but it all works now. If you've got a T60p Core Duo w/ATI FireGL 5200 and a 14.1inch 1400x1050 resolution display, PM me for the files.

Do you have audio working ? If so, how did you get it to work. I've tried everything on the various forums for 2 straight days and I still can't get it to work. I have a T60p with the 1981HD audio.

Congrats!
ATI FireGL 5200 is reported to be a perfectly working video chipset for OSX86 on T60!
I really hope someone can provide a solution to ATI Mobility X1300 - or does anyone know how to perform a surgery on my T60 so that I can transplant a ATI FireGL 5200 on it?

I have 1981HD audio and its working with just stock Kalyway 10.5.2 -> 10.5.3 -> 10.5.4. I don't think I did anything with the audio kexts. No doubt its probably 2 channel, I can go into itunes and play mp3's.
Lenovo T60 8755-5BU
Running OSX 10.5.4
Radeon X1400 GFX 1400x1050x32
Sound/Wireless/USB working great!
Sleep not working fully, fan stays on

I got sound working on my T60 (internal speakers and headphones/line out. Not sure about mic though) by selecting the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext (or something very similar to it) during the install process in leo4all.

I have a 2007-CQ8 T60p with OSX 10.5.1 Working pretty much fully:

- iAtkos 10.5.1 (I'm checking out 10.5.4 tonight)
- Wifi (Atheros) works with IO80211.kext updated
- Video works with ATIInject.kext and modification to the EDID and a modification to ATIX1000.kext (I think that's what it's called) to include my vendor ID (1002) and Card PCI ID (78c4) in PCIIOMatch
- This gives full QE support, resolution switching, the whole bag
- Bluetooth works OOB
- Sound works OOB
- Sleep is a little odd. I installed SMBIOS.kext and AppleACPI.kext from some forum posts and got the unit to go to sleep using FN-F4 but the unit won't wake back up (no 0192 error, just the hard drive lights up and then turns off and the unit just sits there). I've read some posts on a combo update to 10.5.2 might fix the issue.
- Speedstep does not work, CPU runs hot, I'm using coolbook right now.

If anyone's interested I can post the .kexts I am using, might help out anyone with similar T60p (I'm running 1400x1050 with a V5200). The EDID is probably the same for similar build T60ps

Question: How did you get 1680x1050 video working in OS X? Did you edit your <string> tags and if so, with what values?

[edit: found the answer @ insanemac.com]

Has anyone found some tool to make use of these keys by now?
