Problem with power manager

My power manager on my T60 does not react. I cannot see the list of power schemes as before, and when I try to create a new one, it will not be saved.
I found a few solutions, but they are not 100%

I also had this problem come up today. Power Manager only shows two preset schemes. Control Panel -> Power Options -> Power Schemes shows seven schemes, all of which used to appear in the Power Manager options list.

I had v 1.30 installed and updated to v1.40 via a Lenovo download but that didn't change anything.

The only thing I did today was to try two pieces of software, VLC Player and Breakaway Audio Enhancer. Both locked up my system so I removed them. I doubt they caused this problem, though.

I am reluctant to go into the registry for this but will watch this space for other suggestions.

Unfortunately, no. I did not keep a copy.

I removed Power Manager 1.40 completely, rebooted, and reinstalled again after my last post. Still only see two presets.

Hello Ravi, nice to hear from you in another thread. I had this issue a few months ago. I cannot recall exactly what I did to restore everything, but between utilizing the URL you provided, as well as the one listed below, I was able to restore everything except the "Thinkpad Default". Recently, with the "freeze" issue that you are most familiar with, as I explained in that thread, with the power management software uninstalled, I deleted the portion of the registry related to the power config schemes and copied those that were available in my Guest account that I have setup for other family members. This restored all schemes (Windows and ThinkVantage) and brought back the "Thinkpad Default". Recommend backing up your registry before attempting any changes. Alternatively, you might also try activating the Guest account. Log into that account and review the power schemes setup in that account's registry. Hopefully, you will find the same entries that I did and you can then export that section of the registry forming a ".reg" file". You can save it to your "Shared Documents" folder so you can access it in your regular user account as well. Here's what I did:
1. Save a copy of your registry by exporting it
2. Logged into Guest account
Export this portion from Guest account to my Shared Documents folder: My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg - I called it powercfg.reg
3. Logged into normal account
4. In registry, deleted My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg
5. Closed registry
6. Double clicked on registry file created in step 2
7. Opened registry to check that new entries were indeed there
8. Rebooted
9. Set desired power scheme. In my case - Window's Home/Office

If this does not work, then you can always import your saved reg file created in step 1 and get back to your starting point.
