X20 Constantly Shuts Down

#1 Post by WillT. » Fri Aug 08, 2008 11:45 am

I just received a used X20 that seemed to be working OK. However, I have been trying to install Windows 2000 on it since it did not come with a hard drive. Whenever I tried to use fdisk to format the drive, everything kept shutting down or going into standby-usually standby first, then after waking it, it would shut down. To get around this, I just went ahead and formatted it on another computer. I was then able to start installing Windows. However, as it was copying all of the setup files, it decided to go into standby or shut down again, and again, and again. Is there any reason as to why this keeps happening so consistently and frequently, and is there some way to fix/stop it?

I think that was the problem. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
