ati x300 hypermemory ? on my t43...

so i've read a number of threads here regarding hypermemory on the ati x300 video subsystem, but i can't figure something out. i've read that some folks 'see' 128mb of video memory (64mb onboard + 64mb hypermemory), while others see more. mine seems to be locked at 128mb. i've never seen more.

so my ? is what accounts for the difference...
- is it related to the revision/generation of the ati gpu?
- is it related to the installed bios version (tp and/or gpu bios)?
- is it related to the video system driver version?
- is it some combination?
--- or am i completely of-base?

I've never seen more than 128Mb on a "regular" T43 myself. You may be possibly able to pull more by running a very video-intensive application, or game.
