wlan problems with cisco aironet 350 card

#1 Post by sledgehammer » Fri Aug 08, 2008 3:33 pm

Hi
First post to this forum. I have problems to get my computer connected to my wlan station. It works ok once in a while but most time it doesn't work. I have found solution how to get it connected but it's irritating to configure wlan box everytime when it doesn't find network.

If i want it to find networks i have to change radio channel from wlan box. After saving settings to wlan box my computer will find open network very fast and everything is working as long as i don't shut it down. Radiochannels 1, 6 and 11 are working quite well. Auto setting doesn't work at all.

Wlan box is working well with other machines. My mac mini didn't have any issues finding networks, iphone is working also well, my nokia e61 is also working with that box so the problem has to be in wifi card. My computer can also connect to other wlan stations... Strange. Bios is is updated also.

And sorry my bad english

I don't know if it will work but try disable power-saving for the wireless card (device manager > wireless card > properties) or set it on the maximum performance if not yet. Just an idea.

You should perhaps upgrade the internal wifi card of your T30 to a b/g card.
That Cisco card is only an 802.11b card, and your other equipment all seem to function in the g-band.
That b-card drags down performance from your router, because it has to throttle down to b when the T30 wants to connect, while it was happily working at g-speed before.

Sorry to hear about your wifi issues. Some computer problems can be very, very annoying.
There are a few ways to upgrade that card. I recommend spending a little time on this forum. It's helped quite a few people ready throw their computer on the comcrete and take a hammer to it.

My experience with the system you have it is very particular. I've spent hours on the phone with them. I'd certainly try an upgraded card.
