What's the worth of a working 240X?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

What's the worth of a working 240X?

#1 Post by schen » Fri Aug 08, 2008 10:19 pm

Due to the screen resolution that is just too low for what I would do with it, I've about decided to sell or trade my "new to me" 240X (2609-61U) in favor of a bigger, but not as cool X Series machine.

Since I know very little about the 240s in general, I'll have to ask the forum membership for guidance on what it's worth.

In addition to what you'll find from Lenovo Support on the specs. It has the RAM upgraded to 192Mb, as well as the extended battery. One of the reasons I'm considering the switch is to not hassle with the OS load on this thing, so I can put any number of HDDs in it ranging from a new 5400rpm/40Gb to 4200rpm/80Gb HDDs. I also have X Series spec A/C adapters that I can include.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on it.
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(
Other Projects- Edge 15, Z61m (Titanium)
Historic Retired ThinkPads- T42p, X20, A31p, 701c, 760XD, WorkPad C505

If I remember correctly, I sold two 240x's (both have 192mb and internal wifi mod.) for ~$300 each in 2006 Summer. Then in Oct.2007 I sold another two 240x's with the same or higher configuration(256mb) for around $150 each. People might be willing to pay extra for collection purposes but generally the sell price will decrease with time for computers. I think two years later(2010) not many people will show interest in this series.(IMHO)
