Just letting off some steam..

Got a new T-61 14.1" WXGA+ display laptop earlier in the week. I previously had a much loved T-42 14.1" SXGA+ but decided to upgrade since the hard-drive was getting a little bit too slow for running VMs on it.

I hate this wide-screen display. It really is pretty stupid for developers. I can't view that many vertical lines of code I dearly miss the 4:3 ratio screens. Lenovo has a 15% or so re-stocking fees on returns. Totally disappointed with Thinkpads and the wide-screen formats I took a look at a 14.1" wide-screen, but didn't play enough to realize the practical issues...

Anyone know what might be a good way to swap the laptop for a 4:3 SXGA+?

Why not try to trade it in Marketplace?
Or get a fast HDD or even SSD for your T42?

Well, I 'm involved with software development too and I think they are fantastic. The diagramatic aspects of contemporary service development approaches work soooooo much better on a wide screen!

You could've bought a new T61 off Lenovo's Outlet with 4:3 SXGA+ screen. I'm looking for one T61 also with the standard form factor, before those machines are no longer available.
