I would guess that http://www.nbcolympics.com/ might have what you need. There's a signup for live video box to the right which you enter a ZIP code and then it requests that you download Microsoft's Silverlight plugin (I'm running Firefox).

NBC does indeed stream live events. These streams don't have commentary or commercial breaks just as they are received from the Olympics feed. See the online programming listing. Live streaming is only available if you are a subscriber of their cable/satellite service partners. The web site would not stream live events to me if I selected antenna as my TV service provider. On the other hand, they have no way to verify which TV service I am subscribed to.
Notice how swimming, gymnastics, track and field and volleyball are missing from the list. Since these are the events Americans have the most interest in, NBC is not streaming these over the internet so they can show it at prime time with commercials and ad revenue.
This live streaming is a great improvement over Olympics coverage in the past. Before you are at the mercy of the network on which events they will show. Now I can follow the lesser known events. Not having the commentators chattering is also a plus in my book.

Yes, that was my first thought (nbcolympics.com). I wanted to see the individual heats prior to the finals. I did the usual google searches but no luck. The 100m free, 200m free relays, and the 50m free are the ones I'm really interested in. Oh well!!
Edit: I though since I'm up at these crazy hours, I'd watch crazy badminton!! Too bad I can't because my T21 has w2k.
Now I have to wait till I get home to watch it on another lappy.
