First flight since 1997... suggestion on camera and meds?

#1 Post by leoblob » Tue Aug 12, 2008 10:48 am

I'm going on a domestic flight in a month, and I have not been on an airplane since 1997. I understand things have changed a little bit at the airport since then.

I'm seeking advice on two topics. First, how to travel with a camera. I am concerned about x-rays and their effect on film (no digital for me). I have a lead-lined bag specifically for film, but will that cause a problem? Should I buy the film at my destination (but how do I get it back)? Ideas?

Second, my health is poor and I take quite a few prescription meds. I assume I put those in my carry-on so they don't get lost. But won't having like 8 prescription meds cause an issue at security? I know to keep each in its original bottle with the prescription with my name on it. Anything else I should know?

Thanks.

Straight from the horses' mouth: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/index.shtm

This may be an even better link: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/ ... items.shtm

The second link discusses medicine, film & cameras.

Thanks. Never occurred to me that the TSA would have information that was actually useful.
