LCD Interchangability

I know there is an LCD thread stickied, but my question wasn't exactly answered there. Which model LCD's are interchangeable with the 14.1" T60?

For example, I know that some models can share panels, like the A31 and the T20 apparently can use the same panel.

A31 and T20 can't use the same panel...

The only LCD that would work in a 14" T60 would have to come from either R60 or T61.

Well I have a panel in a T20 that I bought used, when I looked up the FRU all the results said it came from an A31 and R30

FRU: 46L2348

Well initially ebay, but its in the A31 maintenance manual and not the T20.

I'll give you two possible explanations:

a) Someone has made it fit by messing around with connectors.

b) LCD was mislabeled to begin with, wouldn't be the first time I'm hearing of it...

And yes, by all means that is a correct FRU for a 14" Samsung panel from A31.

But back to the original topic: why would you want to throw a different LCD in a 14" T60? The brand new ones are dirt cheap to begin with, which serves them right because they're garbage...please advise.

I was just wondering if I happened to have one.

The connector fits without a problem, but maybe it doesn't work. I thought the backlight was dead... but maybe its that the panel doesn't work? The LCD connector fits without fiddling, but when you turn it on you can see the text dimmly the same as a panel with a bad backlight.

Notice I said apparently in that first post... heh... apparently...

These symptoms could also spell a motherboard problem...hopefully not...

Nope, motherboard works fine with other panels. Like I said, I thought it was just a bad backlight...

But you seemed to be saying that the connectors should be different for the T20 and A31 cables... so maybe its just mislabeled?

I guess this off from the original question and more of a T2x/A3x topic, but I got that panel working... backlight was fine, but the wire had broken off at the solder point... Resoldered and its working in a T23. So I guess it was mislabeled?
