Note on "fan continuously running" problem

I'm at my parent's house for the holidays and its pretty chilly here. The thermostat is set to 70 F, but it feels much colder than that.

My T40's fan is amazingly turning on AND turning itself off after a bit (probably 5 mins or so). At my apartment it woudl turn on but not turn off.

This is all on AC power.
