Physx support for T61p?

#1 Post by Pocket Aces » Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:53 am

I'm not sure how this PhysX thing works. I currently have the 177.79 drivers from laptopvideo2go. Is PhysX supposed to be included in the driver package, or do I have to download that seperately? Also, is the FX570M even supported?
T42p - Pentium M 1.8Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB 7200 RPM, ATI Mobility FireGL T2 128MB
T61p - Core 2 Duo 7300, 3 GB RAM, 320 GB 7200 RPM, nVidia Quadro FX 570M 256MB

PhysX is not included with the drivers from Lenovo. You can download the latest version here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_8.06.12_whql.html

You can also see what hardware is supported, but the FX570M is not one of them. PhysX will still work with the T61p, but everything will be processed by the software and not by the hardware since you don't have any supported hardware installed.

Since nVIDEA recently bought PhysX i'm sure more hardware from nVIDIA will be supported in the future. I have no idea if that will included laptops.

NVIDIA tells GPU family 8 and 9 will handle PhysX. So Quadro FX 570m should handle it. Perhaps lenovo will never release such driver and we have to use hacked ones.

According to their website the supported product is the following:

GeForce GTX 280 GPUs
GeForce GTX 260 GPUs
GeForce 9800 GTX GPUs
AGEIA PhysX Processor (All)

As far as i understand that doesn't include the Quadro FX 570m.
