Ugly T61 vs. IBM Looking T61s.

#1 Post by epu » Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:12 pm

I've been looking at a billion pictures of various T61s and some of them look a little more like the T60, which lacks the Speakers on the top. I'm assuming the liberty to add speakers on the top is due to the extra inch. Are there any T61s that do NOT have speakers on the top, and look a little more like the T60s?

I'm thinking of selling my X61 to purchase a T61 for the extra screen space, AND ability to install a SECOND HARD DRIVE, which is crucial to me doing audio work (Digidesign Pro-Tools) on the go. My X61 is very powerful, but carrying around a second hard drive and putting up with USB or Firewire speeds and interruptions is a BIG hassle.

Is it the 14" T61 that looks thinner and more IBM looking, or the T61p?

the 14" NS T61 looks like all the other T series from before. The widescreen (WS) and 15 and 15.4" Ones have the speakers on the tops.

I've got a 14' T61 4:3 (non wide screen) and it has the speakers on the bottom.

I was thinking of selling it and going for an x61 as I really need the portability.

Let me know if you want to chat about trading .

Any model numbers?

#4 Post by epu » Sun Aug 17, 2008 2:05 pm

Thank you so much for answering my question. Thing is, I'm looking for one of these on eBay, but they're tough to spot since a lot of companies are using stock photos.

Is there a specific model number I should be aware of when hunting these down?

Thanks again.

Yes. I a hmmm recorded some songs from the NFS carbon game, only the instrumental ones. I have not yet used the recording feature on the T61 to see if it's disabled or not. anyways I like more my T61. I'm still using my T42p as I write this.
T61 is being tested to reduce temperatures, I guess I'm a tech freak. I think it's time to quit using my T42p and put it to sale. T61 is so quiet and cool. I remember when this was promised when they came out. It really is TRUE.
