Hi folks,
I've just got a new X61 running XP SP2. It's been stripped down by my corporate IT folks from a software perspective and originally had essentially no Lenovo software at all. I've convinced them to let me have Access connections but have had trouble getting it installed. I don't have admin rights so an IT guy is doing the installations for me.
The problem is that when Access Connections (version 5) comes up with the Radios list, there is no entry for the wireless network connectivity, just the bluetooth. So, when I'm trying to make a new wireless profile, only the modem shows up as an available network adapter.
I've got installed the Hotkey utility (seems to be working), Power Manager (again, seems OK), and the latest Wireless driver for the 4965AG wifi link network adaptor (version 11.5).
In the AC 5.0 requirements list, some places it shows the 11.5 wireless adapter (which shows as the latest, in the downloads section) as the required version, but in other parts of the document it refers to version 12.0.0.75 which I haven't found anywhere.
The power manager shows as 1.40 which is the latest on the downloads page despite the stated requirement for 1.42.
I'm tempted to attempt installing 4.52 Access Connections which I recently downloaded, in hopes its requirements are less recent.
Since I have to have my IT guy do all this, it's a real pain.
Can anyone offer further suggestions as to why AC 5.0 doesn't seem to recognize the presence of my wireless features? They are on, and they do work if I control them from Windoze.
Thanks!
Marc

I haven't used Version 5. I have Version 4.4x running on XP SP3 flawlessly and Version 4.52 running in Vista Business 64-Bit working just fine.
So first, look at the V5 documentation and make certain your wireless card and driver version number is in its list.
Then, assuming you have the correct drivers for the ethernet card and for the wireless card, uninstall Access Connections, uninstall the network cards, restart, install the wired NIC, restart, install the wireless NIC, restart, and then install Access Connections. If the card is in the AC list, it should now work.

Apologies all.
I'm so used to having a T series that I apparently posted in the wrong forum and incorrectly titled the message.
This issue is with an X61.
Time to update my signature, too!
