Ultrabay 2000 or Ultrabay Plus? *PIC*

#1 Post by sparta.rising » Thu Aug 14, 2008 5:23 pm

Any idea if a CD-RW drive manufactured 8-2002 would be Ultrabay 2000 or Ultrabay Plus? Its on craigslist and the guy doesn't know. The models he says its compatible with would point to Ultrabay 2000 (which is what I need) but I figured I'd check here. Below is a picture.

My understanding is that the Ultrabay Plus devices were special options such as the Keypad and Device Carrier and not any optical drive. The Plus bay can accept any Ultrabay 2000 device but not the other way around. From the picture, it looks like the proper Ultrabay 2000 connector on the back of the drive. If you can get an FRU from the seller, you could probably Google it and confirm that it's for A/T/R/X systems, as some sellers on eBay describe these drives.

They both look like like Ultrabay-2000 to me. If they are cheap enough, go for it.
