The "Wayback Machine" internet archive

#1 Post by pianowizard » Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:56 pm

I looked up "Thinkpads.com" on The Wayback Machine and found what the site looked like on 24 Dec 1997. It's fascinating -- Bill was selling an open-box 770 for $6430!!! In the "SPECIAL DEALS" section, he had the following:

701 owners:
32meg RAM upgrade
$179 + shipping
---------------------------
Internal IBM 20x CD-ROM
for 760CD, 760ED, 765
$239 + shipping
----------------------------
760E series, 32meg EDO RAM
$115 plus shipping
one only at this price
------------------------------
I have some more IBM 2.1gig
12.7mm hard drives.
Special $259 + fedex

Outrageous prices LOL!

The site also archived eBay.com on 14 Jun 1997 which looked so different back then. On the homepage it said "WELCOME TO EBAY! The most fun buying and selling on the Web! Take part in an exciting auction, or put your own merchandise on auction, all free for buyers!"

Have you guys seen other interesting stuff in the Way Back Machine archive?
