W700 Quad Core capable, and can now order with that CPU too

A lot of press out there that tout Lenovo being first with the Intel Quad Core in the W700. Many articles are quoting portions of this Lenovo press release, "Lenovo Unleashes PC Beast on Mobile Workstation Market with ThinkPad W700"
http://www.lenovo.com/news/us/en/2008/08/w700.html
Here's other related press:
http://www.infoworld.com/article/08/08/ ... ine_1.html
this article states:
"The W700 is powered by an Intel Core 2 Extreme quad-core mobile processor that runs at a frequency of 2.53GHz and includes 12MB of L2 cache. It supports up to 8GB of RAM."

I happened to notice though, when trying to add one to a shopping cart on the Lenovo site, that only the following 3 processors are currently available for ordering, cut-and-pasted here:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T9600 (2.8GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2) [add $275.00]
Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor X9100 (3.06GHz 6MBL2) [add $875.00] [New]

Here's the part# and description of the Extreme:
43Y4811 SBB INTDUCREXTR6MB L2CACHE3.0G

I wonder when the Quad Core will be orderable: the sales staffer I talked to today had no idea. And 128SSD is not yet offered for order, nor is 8GB of memory. Finally, I noticed that the W500's WWAN feature isn't carried over (integrated EVDO cellular) to the W700. That key difference should be highlighted on the Lenovo comparison site:

It would appear overall that early adopters/orderers may feel somewhat "bitten" by these out-of-the-chute restrictions in these first 3 models that can be ordered now, and assumed to ship first (4+ weeks).

No extended warrantees offered (yet?) either. Maybe the website just isn't sorted out right just yet, we'll see....

OK, no warrantee info added to the website, but the quad core QX9300 processor is now shown as an order option. Here's the current, undiscounted pricing on the public website:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T9600 (2.8GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2) [add $275.00]
Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor X9100 (3.06GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2) [add $875.00] [New]
Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor QX9300 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 12MBL2) [add $1,275.00] [New]

The reason the quad core was added today only is that Intel hadn't officially announced the CPU yet, which they just did today.
