What's wrong with this title:
"A20M IBM Laptop with Windows Vista 550MHZ/256Mb and 6GB-Excellent"

"Excellent"??? :) Maybe if you are a turtle...

Ooo... Ooo.... I know!!! The "M" in "A20M" needs to be lower case.

edit: I found the listing... Seems like it's Vista in the title but XP in the description.

Shh don't ruin my fun... the fact that the title and body don't match probably means its spam (not that I was interested in it).

The confusion about the OS could simply be an honest mistake.

I wasn't too familiar with current A20m pricing so I just checked out some recent completed auctions on eBay. I'm shocked to see almost 20 systems that have sold for well over $150, one as high as $400 :!: . That's probably explained by the amount of software that was included (XP, MS Office Pro, Adobe Photoshop CS3, MS Works, Encarta; can you say "software piracy"?).

It's funny to see in that auction I referenced, nowhere is there a mention of the CPU speed of the system. The "Fast Intel Pentium III Mobile Processor" could be 500, 600 or 700Mhz. For the buyer's sake, I hope it was a 700 AND they put more memory in it than the 128MB it was sold with. I've tried running Adobe CS3 on a 576MB 500Mhz 600X and it wasn't pretty.

I really dislike EBay sellers that try to pump up old machines with loads of pirated software to lure the un-suspecting/uninformed into spending money on an old slow hardware. It's one thing if you know what the machine is...most don't.

You forgot to mention that laptop came with FREECELL! Totally makes it worth the $400. That's such a rare game, I'd kill to have it.

Hahaha... that Laptops4less1 guy is a real gem.

See http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0229711991

and what feedback was left:

"real junk, last used in 1980 .looks like it was from a dumpster.worst buy on ebay" :D

I have tried an M700, and i tend to agree slightly. While it is not from M700, it didn't manage to cool down the MR 7500 properly, so it artifacts all over the place in 3dmark01 after one minute.

I'm sure impressed that he sells all his notebooks with ccccoooOLlLlOOOooRrR displays, that's totally cool!

Wow, even the speakers are included! :D

I also like how he encourages buyers to mooch off the neighbor's wireless.

Harry,

I reported each and every one of that sellers active listing that had additional software in it. I too hate this practice.

I highly doubt e-bay will pull the auctions though.

Maybe I should contact the BSA?

If you have any active sales on eBay, they will probably be gone over with a fine tooth comb now. :o

Speaking of craigslist, I have just realized that it seems to attract very odd people, ranging from free thinkpads for pickup in some dark alley at midnight (yes, it's true!) to a "71 year old woman looking for partner to cuddle with short-term".

Quite entertaining really, when you have the time to burn. :)

I get a kick out of this one:
IBM Thinkpad T22 laptop - $190 (Buffalo or Plymouth MN)
Date: 2008-09-09, 5:06PM CDT

I have an IBM Thinkpad T22 laptop for sale.
Works good. Battery is OK, don't know exactly how long it keeps a charge but it says an hour and a half.
40GB hard drive 512MB memory, DVD drive
Office on it.
Vista (actually XP Pro, but all the visuals made to look exactly like Vista- noone can tell the difference) Works fast even with 256MB memory. Wireless card available for $20

Cell phones are my specialty. Got questions? Ask away.
