3 Base System Devices are missing drivers
Hi,
Got my brand new T61P 6459CTO from Lenovo with Vista 64 Bit, but it would not boot correctly, pretty lame reciving a laptop with non working OS, So I decided to install Windows 2008 64 Bit, because I do a lot of Hyper-V demos...
Long story short, most stuff are working, except I have 3 Base System Devices that I can't find drivers for it...
Can someone help !!!
Thanks !!!

That probably wasn't a good idea. Windows Server 2008 isn't an OS that Lenovo supports, so you might have a tough time finding drivers for it. I suggest you reinstall Vista, and make sure to use the driver matrix to get all of the drivers you need.

Well, more and more I'm thinking of using the 2nd disk I bought with the laptop ( got 2x 160 GB 7200 )... and install Vista 64 on it to get the list of all the proper drivers and devices to figure out what is missing...
I would have kept Vista that came with it, but it was not functional, it would just log-on and logoff right away, so I just removed it and installed 2008...
I know alot of people have installed Win2K8 on a Lenovo and most of the stuff would work well...
Thanks !!!

It's just the drivers for the memory card reader (yep, three drivers, one for each card type). I downloaded the drivers from the Lenovo web site, extracted the files, and manually updated each driver. I think the order of appearance in the list is MS, SDMMC, then XD, but I could be wrong. Don't worry, you can't install the wrong one.FormationHY wrote:Well, more and more I'm thinking of using the 2nd disk I bought with the laptop ( got 2x 160 GB 7200 )... and install Vista 64 on it to get the list of all the proper drivers and devices to figure out what is missing...

EDIT: Also - I have had great success identifying unknown hardware by googling the hardware id taken from Device Manager.

Thanks very much, that fixed the 3 system devices...
But I also have 3 unkown devices... it appears to have to do with Bleutooth. The Device is for each are BTH\MS_BTHBRB, BTH\MS_BTHPAN & BTH\MS_RFCOMM.
I have already installed the Thinkpad Bleutooth With Enhanced Data Rate Software 6.1.0.4500, and even reinstalled it, but no luck...
Will try to google the Device ID, but wondering if anyone has seen this before...
Thanks
