socket type for t23

#1 Post by niffcreature » Sat Aug 16, 2008 5:20 pm

im trying to upgrade my processor. for some reason, i cant find out the socket type of my t23 and laptops that use p3s in general. i know of course that p3s fit into socket pga370, but im sure that thats not my socket type. pga 370 is for desktop computers, right? and a few strange laptops.
pretty much all the processors i find are for socket 370. i dont know if my socket technically is socket 370, but i know that its different. much smaller. now how can i find the right processor type?

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

The T23 uses an Micro-FCPGA socket. The popular 1.13Ghz CPU is codenamed SL5CK:

thanks. so just to make sure, p3 tualatin cores do not come in the micro-fcbga packaging, and therefore theres no way to upgrade a thinkpad t23 to 1.4 ghz?
and, the 1.33 ghz will work, right? if i can find it? i dont know about core stepping.

No it won't.
The largest CPUs for a T23 are the above 1.13GHz, code SL5CK, and the 1.2GHz, code SL5CL
