pc card support question and pricing question

#1 Post by Nomad-Man » Tue Dec 28, 2004 12:54 pm

Hey is this a typo or what. Whats correct..
From Ibm site.

1836H7U says in specs
pc card support - 1 type I/II or 1 type III

1836Q4U says in specs
Pc card support - 1 type II or 1 type III

other than that the only diff I can see is the processor speed and Q4U has software included called Thinkpad Configuration Utility.

why a -139.90 diff in regular pricing vs going with visa/mastercard?
Are machines the same quality or 2nd run / minor flawed machines.

Someone ?????......

I tried downloading the tabook info from the link in the faq section here on this site last night. I had no luck getting it downloaded so I have not been able to figure out what is what. Not knowing anything about pc card slots doesnt help me either.

isnt the tabook info suppose to be the updated tech specs for each and every ibm thinkpad?

the tabook.pdf is historically more accurate than the website.

ibm's sale pricing is currently lower than the credit card discount.   the machines are identical.

used/refurbished machines are only sold through the certified used department.

the slot accepts two type I or II or one type III.

:)

The Q4U has the new Intel a/b/g card, rather than IBM's version.

Specs look the same to me, where are you getting your info..

Im still at a loss on the pc card slot thing.

1 Type II or 1 Type III

1 Type I/II or 1 Type III

is there a difference, or is this a typo?
Will i be able to use one of those "pc card slot cards" that allows you to put in a different memory cards from a camera. they have them over at new egg for about 25.00 bucks.
