R60 Display error / new display? SXGA/UXGA

#1 Post by Elfish » Mon Aug 18, 2008 4:00 pm

i just started my r60 like every evening and voila the display got a tourqoise line in the left third of the screen. it's going right from the top to the bottom and its approx. 1 pixel thick.

i wonder what i could do now?
Is there any way to fix that beside buying a new screen?
If i'd need a new screen i want to upgrade for a uxga screen.
so i wonder is that possible? :O

if so where can i buy the needed parts for a reasonable price? :o

I myself have the same problem although I have an r-52 and the thin blue line is closer to the center of the display. I use my laptop everyday and have not had a problem at all until this happened. I think it might have to do with the heat because I leave my laptop in my truck for work and here in south florida it gets very hot. I noticed the line about 2 weeks ago after leaving it in the truck for along period of time in the heat. After kicking on the A/C and about 10 mins later the line disappeared. Now the line is permenant. I called IBM only to find out that I bought this laptop with no manufacture warrenty. I probably got screwed and bought a refirubushed computer so I have to bring it back to the place I bought it from. I will do that within the next few days so If I find out anything I will let you know, like wise for you if possible.
:(

Went to the place where I purchased the laptop, they are going to fix it under warranty. I am waiting to get it fixed because of my job, so I do not know what the actual problem is.
