T61 - Other app hijacking volume control buttons

#1 Post by Nolonemo » Mon Aug 18, 2008 5:24 pm

I am running Vegas Pro 8 (a video editing app) on my T61 running a self-load of XP Pro SP3. I find that if I press the mute/vol up/vol down buttons on the TP that the application acts like I am pressing the up and down arrow keys. I have to minimize the app to get to the desktop for the volume keys to change the volume. I don't appear to be experiencing this with any other apps. Does anyone have any insights on this? Everything else on the TP seems to be working fine.

Thanks

I had that problem with MPC. See if there's an option to turn off that particular hotkey in the application.

"a self-load of XP Pro SP3. "
I think the Lenovo factory loads include special keyboard drivers to make use of the special keys--like the volume keys. Have you loaded those drivers? Or just the MS ones for a standard keyboard? It could be that simple.

Yep, Lenovo drivers were installed. Works fine in all other apps.

What hotkey do the volume buttons correspond to?

Just to follow up, it appears that Vegas was reading the dedicated audio button presses as Ctlr-Z. I disabled that hotkey combo in Vegas and now the buttons work fine.
