Wild DVD drive spin

I was trying to install a driver for the new printer today and upon inserting the CD disk, the DVD-ROM/CD-R drive simply went wild and spun at an extremely high speed during the entire installation. It made a lot of noise and the whole T42p (2373-GVU) was shaking. Why did it happen like this?

That kind of happened to me after installing something from a Logitech CD. I realized after, that the CD was not flat at all, and was quite warped. Maybe that was the issue. Lay it on a flat table, and see it it's bowed.
